KARACHI: A government school from Sindh — Govt Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain — has brought international recognition to Pakistan as it has been named among the top 10 finalists worldwide in the community collaboration category of the World’s Best School Prizes 2026, presented by T4 Education. This was announced by Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Saturday. It said T4 Education is an international organisation that recognises outstanding educational institutions from around the world. The World’s Best School Prizes are regarded among the most prestigious global awards in education. The awards recognise schools in five categories — community collaboration, environmental action, innovation, overcoming adversity and supporting healthy lives. This year, thousands of public and private schools from around the world submitted applications and after an extensive evaluation process, an international panel of experts selected only 10 finalist schools worldwide in each category. Only two schools from Pakistan — a private school from Punjab and the Government Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain, Hyderabad — were shortlisted for this prestigious global award. The school secured its place among the global top 10 in the community collaboration category through its strong partnerships with the local community, awareness campaigns, innovative STEAM-based learning activities, and its commitment to the holistic development of students, the statement added. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and the education minister congratulated the school administration, principal, teachers, students, parents and the local community, and said that this achievement was not merely the success of a single school but a source of pride for Sindh’s education system, government schools and the entire nation.
